Today Vihaba will give you more information about cinnamon for you to choose.
Cinnamon Stick
The bark of the cinnamon tree, after being harvested and dried, forms strips that curl into rolls, known as cinnamon sticks. Cinnamon sticks also have many types of cinnamon products with different prices. The difference in the price of cinnamon stick can be due to factors:
– Roll: Cinnamon sticks are usually rolled around 80%, 90%, 100%. High roll means more cinnamon bark, cinnamon sticks are also more uniform and beautiful in appearance, so the price is also higher.
– Thickness: The minimum thickness of cinnamon sticks is 2.2 mm. The higher the thickness, the higher the price.
– Peeled or unpeeled: The peeled cinnamon stick has a higher price because it takes more time and effort to produce, and the quality is also higher.
Broken Cinnamon
Broken cinnamon is collected from cinnamon split, cinnamon branches, and fragments from the cinnamon production process,…Moreover, it has a large quantity, varied sizes.
– Oil content: 2-4% is the oil content of broken cinnamon. The higher price of broken cinnamon is partly due to its higher oil content.
– Besides, the smaller amount of impurities or the peeled cinnamon, the price of broken cinnamon will be higher.
Cinnamon Powder
Cinnamon powder is made by grinding the bark of the cinnamon tree. It has the characteristics of smooth, long-lasting aroma, spicy, sweet, and less acrid. In particular, cinnamon powder contains many essential oils which is also the main factor affecting the price of cinnamon powder.
– The oil content of cinnamon powders is usually 1-4%, the higher the oil content, the higher the price of cinnamon powder.
– In addition, the price of cinnamon powder made from the peeled cinnamon bark is also higher than the unpeeled type because of the different production time and nutrient content.
Cinnamon of Vietnam – Making changes in the quality of organic cinnamon types to reach new markets
New step of Vietnamese cinnamon in the international market
In recent years, the area of organic cinnamon growing in Vietnam is increasingly expanded. Organic cinnamon has a higher percentage of essential oils and is also more economical when it comes to selling from bark to stem and leaves. Quang Ninh cinnamon growing area produces about 650-700 tons/year, up to 1,000 tons/year in some years. Moreover, In the Van Yen district of Vietnam, on average, people sold about 6,000 tons of dried cinnamon bark to the market each year.
Vietnam’s organic cinnamon project aims to build a material area that meets the organic standards of the US and Europe, meeting about 200 tons of organic dried cinnamon by 2021. The project is implemented to access new markets that are difficult markets in the world such as Europe, America, etc. Currently, people have certified 329 hectares of cinnamon in Quang Ninh with European organic standards and have exported to this demanding market.
Specification for growing organic cinnamon types
For uniform growth, farrmers planted organic cinnamon at a moderate density of 3,000 – 4,000 trees/ha. After people planted cinnamon trees from 4-6 years old, then people begin to exploit and thin the cinnamon tree , with 2 crops per year in March and August. However, excessive thinning affects the growth, development, and quality of cinnamon
For reaching the organic cinnamon standard, farmers must plant and care for sustainability by enhancing soil fertility and biodiversity; but do not use synthetic pesticides, synthetic fertilizers … Instead of using pesticides, it is necessary to cultivate disease-free soil, monitor and promptly handle pests by manual methods or biological drugs. In the Van Yen cinnamon growing area, farmers no longer sprayed with herbicides for cinnamon but instead carried out weeding by machine, without using toxic chemicals in the care process.
